In case anyone is wondering what finals at an art school are like.
As far as I know, SCAD doesn’t have a swimteam or a football team, but we have an equestrian team and Quidditch. FOR REAL.
I wonder when Quidditch goes on? I haven’t heard anything from the team this year :(
Yanno, I tend to love being an art student. I wonder how differently I look at the world compared to other people? Since I’m around artsy kids 24/7, things like “party” colored hair just don’t seem strange to me. I mean, the other night I was in the cafeteria and I stopped and stared at this really cute boy for a long time. That’s not out of the ordinary, right? How about if I mentioned that said boy had beautiful aqua (yes, AQUA) colored hair? I wonder if that’s considered weird to most people?
But really, a LOT of kids here have unnaturally colored hair. You see literally every color of the rainbow. Red, Pink, Purple, Blue, Yellow… It fascinates me. I find it interesting that when I go “out of context” and into the world (be it when I’m home, on vacation, etc) that I can see people with odd colors of hair and think almost nothing of it. I’m sure that most “normal” people give folks with party colored hair sideways glances, condescending looks, whispers behind their backs… Yet when I personally see those people (the one’s with the fun hair,) I barely even bat an eye.
Is it just me being used to art kids that love color in their hair, or is dying your hair extreme colors becoming more socially acceptable? It’s not that much of a stretch, tattoos are everywhere now, aren’t they? Colored hair could be perfectly fine to most of the world. I ask because I don’t know. I’m not of “The world’s” mindset.
Aside from the different colored hair thing, there’s just so much that makes the life of an art student so delightfully unique. I wonder if people see the world as I do. As a colorful ball of sunshine and colors… as mind-boggling architectural feats… as absolute amazement at the most minute details of life in general- nature, man-made things… everything.
It’s so hard to describe how I see life. I just wish that everyone could see it the way I do, to possess such a sense of wonder and amazement with the simplest of objects.
Golly, I hope that doesn’t sound like… self centered or anything! I just wanna know if anyone else sees the world like me! ^_^;
Ah, I don’t know what else to say. I was going to discuss the extraordinarily geeky part of the Art school culture, but perhaps I’ll save that for another day.
Till then Tumblr’s~! <3
